Robert “Bob” E. Andrew, 91, of Springfield, died at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born June 22, 1932, in Springfield, the son of John M. and Regina Keefer Andrew.

He married Eugenia Walsh on December 2, 1950, at Sacred Heart Church; she preceded him in death on November 19, 2009.

Bob graduated from St. James Trade School in 1950. He was employed for 32 years at Fiat Allis, 12 years at Pleasant Plains High School, and then retired from St. John’s Hospital. Bob was a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union and a member of Knights of Columbus. He loved being head of the Springfield Khoury League, and he coached a team that became the 1966 Central Illinois Champions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jeff and Jerry; siblings, Jack, Mary Kelley, Lawrence, Carol and Norma Andrew; and one great-grandson.

Bob is survived by his companion, Carolyn Lippa; his five sons, Robert M. (Kristin) of Springfield, Daniel J. (Vicki) of Lake Wales, FL, John G. (Lisa) of Sherman, Thomas P. of VA, and Patrick J. (Debbie) of Abingdon IL; daughters, Carol (Ernie Nielsen) Andrew of Springfield and Kathleen (Scott) Knorr of Meredosia; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: A rosary service will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be followed by visitation until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 South Sixth Street, Springfield IL.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 722 South 12th Street, Springfield IL, with Rev. Brendan Gibson, S.J.C., celebrant.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
