Brenda J. (Robertson) Laurik, 75, of Springfield passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Taylorville at her youngest daughter’s home, who lovingly cared for and comforted her mother during her short battle with cancers and multiple metastases. Brenda was born on February 12, 1949, in Madison, Indiana to Gilbert Robertson and Betty Hammond. She married William Russell Laurik on June 5, 1973, and he preceded her in death on June 19, 2017.

She worked for Springfield School District 186 for several years as a teacher aide and assisted with in classroom supervision of children with learning disabilities or behavior issues, as well as secretary assistant to Principals at multiple schools in the Springfield school district.

Brenda was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Beverly Jackson, Rex Robertson, Walter Robertson, Judy Gail Robertson and Doretta Kilgore.

Brenda is survived by three daughters, Helena Laurik (fiancé Brian Merreighn) of Lincoln, Katrina Livingston of Springfield and Kristina (Nathan) Joslin of Taylorville; one son, William Matthew Laurik of Oakford; thirteen grandchildren, Kayle, Ian (Alysia), Courtney (Joshua), Rachael (Ryan), Haleigh, Norman III, Alexandria (fiancé Quenton), James (fiancé Morgan), John Paul, Josie, Shyanne, Jarred, and Dalton. She is also survived by her siblings, twin Janet (Jim) Gibson, Patty Lee, Peggy Mellas-Kilgore, Tony (Debbie) Maranto, Robbie (Billie Sue) Robertson, Mary (Frank) Cahill and Brian (Jane) Robertson. She was loved and will be missed by countless great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also had a wonderful best friend, Shirley Gullo, who she always confided in.

Brenda was a caregiver to many and cared for her mother and her husband until their passing. She was a faithful member of West Side Christian Church. Her sense of peace with cancer was comforted by knowing Christ and being united with her beloved husband, parents, and siblings she so dearly missed.

Visitation: 10:00 – 1:00 pm, Monday, May 6, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A procession will take place from the funeral home to the cemetery.

Graveside Service: 2:00 pm, Monday, May 6, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
